I just got a Motorola HD DVR deck from Time Warner Cable, so I can record commercials, and study them etc. Now, Although i was originally using the DVR features to record, I came across a post where people said you can connect HD DVR decks to your mac through FW without a problem. I went to Time Warner website, and contacted Customer support, and i was sent a link to a page which showed you how to connect your HD DVR to a Recordable DVD deck, or a VCR to record programs (on the TWC website). They said this set up was for the purpose to record programs from the deck. There was no instructions for FW connectivity though even though the Motorola Deck has FW ports.

With more research, I found out that legally, the FW ports on the decks have to be able to output the signal, and have no restrictions so anyone can connect those FW ports with no restrictions.

I followed up with TWC stating i have a Motorola Deck with FW ports, and although my MAC does see it, Final Cut Pro does not.

I have not received an answer from them yet, but was curious if anyone has tried this with any success.

    Any ideas???

    Thanks,

    Anthony

you can only capture that stuff with D-VHS cap.

You could try a 1080i HDV easy setup, that might work, but
most everyone has said D-VHS cap definitely works.

Encrypted content won’t play over that (HBO movies etc….)
