I’m using a late 2008 17inch Mac book pro with fcp studio 2 (fcp 6.0.5)
    I’m filming with a sony z1e at 1080 50i.

How best am I to capture and work with this footage?.
I had been using windows pcs since the late 90s and switched to the Mac in nov 2008 and fcp, my knollage is limited but improving every day, I keep reading articles’ that suggest I should be capturing in proress and I have seen and read tutorials that suggest I’m best to capture in HDV and set the render settings to proress.

What is the advantage of capturing in proress if I have my sequence render settings set to proress?.

I don’t know if this makes any difference to the answer but at the moment I’m delivering projects on DVD and when requested making HD web clips for sites like you tube/vimeo.
