HDV/proress capture question
I’m using a late 2008 17inch Mac book pro with fcp studio 2 (fcp 6.0.5)
I’m filming with a sony z1e at 1080 50i.How best am I to capture and work with this footage?.
I had been using windows pcs since the late 90s and switched to the Mac in nov 2008 and fcp, my knollage is limited but improving every day, I keep reading articles’ that suggest I should be capturing in proress and I have seen and read tutorials that suggest I’m best to capture in HDV and set the render settings to proress.What is the advantage of capturing in proress if I have my sequence render settings set to proress?.
I don’t know if this makes any difference to the answer but at the moment I’m delivering projects on DVD and when requested making HD web clips for sites like you tube/vimeo.

ProRes is an easy format to edit with. It will also yield better results when going to DVD.
We capture all HDV footage directly to ProRes or DVCPro HD when working with this format.
