HDV/ProRes Workflow problem?
Hey everyone. I have a question, hope someone can enlighten me.
Currently I work at a very small video editing firm(mainly 3 people). I’m starting to have some doubts about our workflow and it’s the most efficient way.
So here it goes:
1 – We shoot with 2 Sony HDV Cameras, one Sony HVR-V1 and another HVR-HD1000, both of them record on MiniDV, thats 1080i50.
2 – We work on a Mac Pro, 2x3Ghz Quad Core, 16GB of Ram, 3 x 500.
Our usual workflow is to use the Sony HVR-V1 connected to the Mac Pro via FireWire and capture the footage directly in Prores 422, 1080i50.
After that we would edit it on the MacPro at the studio or edit on MacbookPro’s at home.
Since our final product is DVD format, we usually resize it from 1080i to 1024×576, to save on HD space and it’s also much easier on the laptops.
We usually use QuickTime to resize, until now no problem, but recently we started having problems with the audio, sometimes when we import the footage into FinalCut the audio needs to be rendered(red line), other times(i presume the audio settings are different) becomes slightly out of sync after some playback time.
Any idea what might be wrong?
Also, do you have any recommendation for getting a better and quicker workflow?
