HDVi50 to Progressive DVD workflow
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been answered 1000 times before, I’ve searched and still unclear.
I have a project containing footage from a variety of sources, mainly HDVi50 but some Pal Mini DV too, and a fair amount of graphics.
I want the final DVD to be progressive – not so much to get any ‘film look’ but to lower the ‘cheap telly’ look.
So how should I do it? Should I get a Kona card or similar and convert the HDVi50 to ProRes 25p on capturing? Or use media manager to convert an edited sequence to ProRes 25p? Or just set my sequence to fields: none and put a deinterlace filter on the i50 footage? Or should I be using something better than the standard FCP6 deinterlace filter?
Probably one for the Color forum, but if some footage is going to Color, should I convert that to progressive before I send it over, or just let Color deinterlace the renders?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Best wishes,
David
