    Hi

I have some questions about HDV. Number one, does anyone know how to digitise (capture) rushes without them automatically being divided into separate clips at each scene break. I find this to be a real pain when I just want to search a roll for useful or particular shots.

Secondly, does anyone know of any other players on the market other than the crappy SONY M10, The facility I’m at currently uses it but I don’t find this to be a very good player and is more suited to consumers rather than broadcasters.
Is there anything out there that can output via SDI. This would be useful as we would like to convert HDV to DVCPRO HD for certain projects that require this workflow. We are currently using the analogue outs for this, but the result is a slight softening of the footage. I am aware that miranda do a converter but would prefer an all in one solution.

    Many thanks

So much for the power of advertising. While I read your post there were TWO banners on the page touting Sony’s two new HDV decks, the HVR-M15u and 25u.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve just checked these models and neither of them have an SDI out. Do you know if they have any particular advantages? Thhe other thing about the M10 is that it offers very poor spool control – though I dont’t know if this down to the small tape format. Any ieas?
