been working fine with the native HDV code in FCP 5…then i added in a couple Motion projects for lower thirds. these were also done in HDV format (1440 x 1080), but a 6 second Motion graphic (project file), takes about 20-30 minutes to render in FCP. is there any workaround for this? how will also this play out when i go to online, for output to “full HD” to an HDCam master?

thanks for helping out a bonehead,

I notice you have very little RAM (512 mb from your profile), and that’s gonna slow down renders a lot.

Try putting in at least 2 GB more. More than that if possible.

Are you talking about a Motion projectfile?

Also a RAID and a capture/playback card will be needed to playback to a HDCam deck.

But you can of course take your finished render somewehere else to lay back to tape.

doh! you’re right on the RAM. i upgraded to 2GB several months ago, but hadn’t updated my profile here (now i have).

yes, i’m talking an HD Motion project file.

yes, i was already planning on online to an HDCam deck elsewhere in the city, but am just amazed at the amount of time it wants to render a “simple” :05 graphic over video on the HDV timeline, so just wondered if there was something i could do differently to speed it up. otherwise, i just won’t render them, but just jog through them a bit to see that they look right and wait until online. thanks!

all you need is faster graphics card. ATI Radeon 9600 XT or better. currently you have the bottom of the list card(NVIDIA GeForce Go5200 or FX 5200 Ultra). check this page.

I use the same dual 2g at work.
p.s. $200 on ebay goes a long way.
