HDV Widescreen & 4:3 on DVD Players
I have a few tricky questions, well to me anyway! i can’t seem to get my head around it everyone i talk to gives me a different answer this is trully killing me…
1. My boss wants a DVD we are making to play widescreen on widescreen TVs and 4:3 on 4:3 TVs. I have been told the DVD player will organize this for us which sounds cool is this correct?
2. We have shot the DVD project in HDV what size/format do I have to output this so i can give the DVD guy who is using Sonic so that the final DVD can be wide screen and be 4:3 depending on the TV without losing the aspect ratio?

Virtually all DVDs are MPEG2 at 720×480. In this case just you just have to make certain to “flag” or check the correct box in your encoder that ids your project as “anamorphic.” It will then play wide screen on a 16×9 TV and 4×3 on SD TVs.
