    Hi All,

It is possible to (to use an Avid term) transcode HDV to DVCProHD? I have edited in DVCPro HD codec before with HDV footage, but it was captured via a Multibridge. I’ve recently been given some footage in HDV codec captured using the Apple HDV 1080i 50 preset via firewire, just wondering if I have to work with it like this or if I can transcode to something else?

    Thanks all for your time.

You can transcode via media management. if you are familiar with this part of FCP its pretty straightforward. bascially you tell MM to recompress all your clips to DVCPROHD and make a new project. Search this forum for “transcode” and “media management” and you will find numerous and valuable threads on this

also look up ken stone and or larry jordan on the web, as they have online guides for processes just like what you need

because it is a recompression process, it is less than real time, so leave yourself time. Like overnight. Or a very long lunch

    hope this helps

    Great thanks Bob,

I know this is probably one of the subjects that has been dealt with quite a bit, so thanks for the reply!
