HDV to Quicktime: strobelike video
Don’t know why I am getting this result when exporting HDV to QT since I have done this many times without problems. Never worked with HDV from a Panasonic HVX 200 before but I doubt this is the culprit.
No matter what flavor QT I output: uncompressed 8 bit, ProRes HQ, H264, they all show the same jittery behaviour when an actor walks thru a scene. Other scenes are pretty much static so it’s not noticeable there.
Interestingly I found out that when I play the H264 file in a smaller window -say 50% of the original size- it plays smoothly. I have a G5 Quad with 3,5 GB of RAM so that shouldn’t be the bottleneck.
I should be fine exporting from FCP to selfcontained H264 without altering any settings, right?
But obviously some data flow is choking somewhere. I’ve been searching the net and find a lot of similar stories- but no clear solution. What’s going on and how can I avoid this?
