  • HDV to ProRes Workflow Question

I’ve decided to switch from editing native HDV to using ProRes. I will be re-capturing my source footage (Canon HDV progressive) and I understand that I cannot batch capture but, rather, what is in essence a capture now.

How do I best organize my footage before or after capture so I can easily identify it? As an example, a lot of the tapes are 1-2 hour interviews on many subjects and I like to organize them so that I know all of the different subject matters when I look at my browser.

Thanks as always for the help,

    Bill Doyle

Log and Capture. But to do this you need to get a Capture Card so that you don’t have to worry about the camera starts and stops.

Or…for after…subclip and label each interview byte as the question asked. Use the NOTES field or MASTER COMMENTS for this.

    Shane,

Is there such a capture card for the MacBook Pro?

    Thanks Shane,

I’ve looked at the IO for some time, but it’s beyond financial reach for this hobbyist. I do have the MXO, but will see what the MXO2 could provide me
