Activity Forums Avid Media Composer HDV to PAL ?

    What do you mean by “stabilized in AE”? Do you have clips with jumpy camera work you are trying to smooth out with AE tracker tools “motion stabilization”? If so, I wouldn’t recommend converting to PAL just yet because of the frame rate differences between NTSC (29.97) and PAL (25).

    Probably better to do all your work in HD before downconverting to NTSC . If your end result is going to be PAL it might be better to do this with an application like Canopus Procoder or similiar transcoding software that can properly handle the framerate differences (Avid will probably do a less than desirable job at this) or see if there is a video duplication house that can do the conversion with a dedicated hardware standards converter.

    Hi Erik,

    first, thanks again for your great help! I handled the material for the first run like you recommended, avid out DNxHD QT reference into AE, then back to Avid QT with DNxHD. That worked just fine, but the HD footage slows down AE massively compared to PAL.
