    My problem in brief:

I have captured HDV footage from a Sony FX1 into a HDV 50i project in PP2.

    I now wish to export this footage as a 720 x 576 .mov file in 16:9 (so basically just covert it from a 1440 x 1080 mpeg into a 720 x 576 mov)

When I do this, PP2 recognises the new .mov file as 16:9 but quicktime does not. It is displayed in 4:3 and stretched to fit the window.

Does anyone know what might be causing this and have any idea how to fix it??

Premiere is doing a pixel aspect ratio conversion for your preview, so it looks correct, but the only other correct preview will be after you export to a 16:9 DVD, then most stand alone DVD players will recognize the 16:9 switch embedded in the video.
If your target is playback on a PC monitor then you will need to import your video into a 4:3 project, scale and pan/scan as needed and add black bars top and bottom to simulate 16:9.
Maybe someone can offer a more elegant solution.
