    Hi,

Here is an interesting problem that i just came across. I have edited an HDV project at 1440×1080. Exported straight from PPro to DVD as a 4:3 high quality output give me a DVD that shows all edges of enlarged or effected images. Sometimes they fill up the whole 4:3 area. All HDV footage is represented as a letterboxed 16:9 image.

I exported the project as a low quality 16:9 and all footage stayed cropped within the 16:9 area. The only problem was that the video danced during the dissolves.

It is only a 16 minute video. Nothing out of the ordinary, except the use of pictures that expand beyond the edges of the frame. I fully expected that these extra edges would be lost upon output.

    Any suggestions?

    Mick

This is a Premiere Pro problem.

It happens with any 16:9 footage…even DV. I have to matte a letterbox on 16:9 footage and output 4:3 letterbox as a 4:3 file.

    Thanks Tim,

How exactly do i go about this? I’m dealing with a quick turn-around and just want it to look proper. The high quality looks great. I just don’t want to give out a low quality 16:9

    Thanks

Today I was getting something done fast and haven’t had a chance to figure out what an optimized workflow would be…I just downloaded Aspect 3.2 and installed it today as well.

Anyway, I go to File>Export>Movie and click “Settings” in the dialogue, then set up the clip as a 16:9 DV clip (codec, frame size, pixel aspect, etc.)

Then I needed a 4:3 file with the video letterboxed for a different purpose and I imported the widescreen DV clip into a 4:3 DV project and I exported it as letterbox (MPEG in this case).

Is that what you’re looking for?

    Hi Tim,

I have been using the trial version of aspect hd and want to buy the bundle. I would like to activate aspect today tho.

Is there a way to do this? I see that aspect is available as a download, but is the bundle as well?

Also, if I buy the bundle (3.1 version) do I then upgrade to 3.2?

    Thanks,

    Mick
