HDV to DV workflow problem
This thread is from another one but its way down the list so here goes. I captured HDV, I edited with no problem. Now, I want a HDV master so I want to output an HDV self-contained movie for future reference. The main problem, I have is that it takes forever to output this HDV self contained. On top of it then I’d have to downconvert in MPEG2 through compressor which takes over a full day for a 1 1/2 video.
Someone mentioned either a Kona 2 card or a decklink card. Will any of these speed up the process or are they merely capture cards for uncompressed, which I do not want to do.

According to the info I got from AJA, the Kona 2 accelerates HDV functionality like it does for DVCPro HD. I would post this query in the Kona forum and I’m sure one of the AJA guys will answer you.

I just got off the phone with their technical support. The answer I got was very vague but they basically said that the way I want to do it is not possible. I’d have to change over to another codec like hdpro or 8 bit uncompressed.
