HDV to DV. Leave as Upper Field???
HI
I’m trying to Compress an HDV movie to DV-PAL. As I understand it- HDV is Upper Field dominant, whereas DV is Lower Field dominant, so:
Do I tell Compressor to leave the fields ‘Same as source’, or do I tell it to go to ‘Lower’? Or even ‘Upper’ (which surely is the same as leaving it ‘same as source’?

If you are going to mix the HDV to DV material with other DV native material (or print to a DV tape), then you should adjust the field to lower. If your entire project is going to use HDV material downconverted to DV and your final output is going to be for DVD or the web, then it would likely be best to leave the fields same as source.
