In order to fulfill this request, you will need to know what channel it is being sent to for broadcast. Each channel has its own set of criteria and it must be adhered to. The channels production guidelines will tell you about the slate, bars, tone, amount of black, etc. Will the station accept HD format or only SD? You will have to output to their tape requirements.

Bottom line is you need to know alot more information before a workflow can be prescribed or suggested.

I agree with what Alan says, but let me also suggest that once you receive the proper specs from the broadcaster, you really should take you finished project to a professional facility nearby that has FCS for “finishing.”

Proper grading, output to tape, and quality control for broadcast are not something you should attempt to do yourself your first time out of the gate. A single error will get your tape rejected, and delivering a reject will end up costing you time, money, and possibly your reputation. So, hire someone, look over their shoulder this time and take copius notes, and then you can try the same things next time.

Yes, the advice sounds wise.

I color corrected using a calibrated monitor and a calibrated external TV, but there are probably tons of things I´m missing.

I am a visual artist by profession, so I´m not that a newby in all the different fields, but still this in my first professional attempt in full editing.

Will follow the advice.

You deliver to the spec required by the broadcaster you are delivering to. This is all covered in the technical specifications you must get from the broadcaster. There is no generic information, each network and broadcaster has their own specs.

We capture HDV to DVCPro HD for editing and color grading and then master out to DVCPro HD or HDCAM depending on what the network requires.
