HDV timeline plays backwards not forwards.

I’m trying to edit with HD for the first time.
I had someone capture the footage and send it to me.

    This is my set up:
    G5 dual 2.5
    4 gig RAM
    Huge Media Vault scsi drives
    Nvidia Gforce 6800 DDL
I’m using AJA IO for playback and capture (right now it doesn’t play at all it only shows the frame I stop on)

I’m using DVCPROHD 720P60 (16:9) as my compressor, frame size, pixel aspect, and all that.
    My frame rate is 59.94

Has anyone run into something like this before?
I don’t usually have trouble playing media.
    Thanks for your help.

Hey Josh, a couple questions. you say you’re editing HDV, but you’re using DVCPROHD 720P6 as your compressor.

So are you actually editing HD or HDV.
Also, are you in 5 or 4.5
And when you say it plays backwards, is it the whole thing playing backwards, could you explain a little more about this behavior.
How was the footage captured?? Using what deck and what setup.
Thanks, hope I can help once these are answered.

ooop yeah I guess I should have been more thorough
    thanks for asking

    I’m on FCP 4.5
I’m not sure how the movie was captured, I was just given the files.
I can find out but it will take a while (full day).
Final Cut is reading the footage as:
    DCVPRO HD 720p60
    59.94 fps
    960 x 720
    Data Rate of 13.7 MB/sec

This is how it is behaving:
I lay the footage out on the time line. Looks fine.
I hit play it jumps coughs and says ive dropped frames.
I hit reverse and it plays backwards no problem.

    Nothing plays through the IO.

The IO is only SD it doesn’t play HD. Kona 2!

I figured that about the io.

But it should play in my timeline right?

No it won’t. Take the Io out of the chain. Monitor to the desktop.
