Hi, I have a problem seeing Hdv clips on my G4 powerbook (867 MHz 640MB)
I cant manage to open them on FCP5 they just appear totally black. It is also impossible to look at them as QuickTime files (not through FCP5)- the quick time opens up empty.
I uploaded the material on a G5 dual into a hardrive ( through firewire800) and took this hardrive to my powerbook (connecting with firewire 400).
I tried to set all the correct settings in FCP (although for the sequence setting compression tab there is no clear choice of what I have to choose in order to get Hdv)
    Why can

What version of Quicktime do you have? You’ll have to have Quicktime 7.04 at least, and if I’m not mistaken, I don’t think a Powerbook G4 will open HDV anyway.

My Powerbook opens HDV (the Sony flavor) just fine. Imports it over Firewire with no problem. I don’t think I’d want to do much editing on it, but it plays the files for sure.
