  HDV playback in motion 4

  I’ve tried to round trip a sequence from FCP 7 to Motion 4 but it doesn’t seem to like my Pal HDV clips. After going dark when I applied a speed change (in Motion) I decided to start from scratch and rebuild it in Motion but it continued to stuttering badly. I thought it might be my cheap drive so I copied the clip to my internal drive and tried importing it from there, there was no improvement. The internal drive has plenty of space and I’ve checked the the cache and deleted what I could. I’ve got a 2.26 Quad Core (with 8g of ram) and was told this was fast enough to handle Motion. Any ideas?
