  • HDV out of sync in Premiere Pro 2 and CS3

I am trying to work with 1080/50i mpeg videos in Premiere CS3. I captured the videos from my FX1E with the same program but into the timeline, all HDV videos are losing audio-video sync (standard dv avis are just fine). The same problem goes with Premiere Pro 2 also. Media Player, PowerDVD andall other players, play the videos fine. It may be a problem of a codec, probably MainConcept or Cineform, but I have uninstalled everything and the problem persists. Please, help, as formatting would take my job days behind schedule.

Are you capturing with Scene Detect using Cineform HDLink or the free HDVSplit?

Capturing over start and stop points has been known to cause slippage due to broken GOPs.

I have the same problem. I capture with Premiere Pro 2 or CS3. All goes fine. I am capturing 30-60 min segments with no scene detect. In Windows media player everything is fine, in Premiere the audio starts in sync but drifts over time.

I have not had this problem before with other HD material, so I did a little investigation. It looks like the problem in on the original tape. The sync does not drift, but changes a little bit at certain spots. After looking at the original tape in those spots it looks like there is a little glitch in the original tape. I don’t see digital artifacts like a dropout, but just a little hick-up in the picture for a frame or two. When this happens the picture and sound get out of sync a little bit. It happened several times in this tape and by the end is out of synce be a couple of seconds.
