Hello… A client has supplied HDV tapes with 1080 material. We lack a HDV deck and suggested they transfer the material to a hard drive to ingest into FCP. They have a PC / Avid media ecosystem. The bulk of our material was recorded in DVCPRO HD 720P24 (Panasonic P2 workflow)

What is the best route to incorporate the HDV material? ie. file format(s) that will play well in the FCP / DVCPRO HD media ecosystem?

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You may want to rent a deck and charge it back to the client. Or, have them digitize the tapes into their Avid, then export either 10-bit DNxHD or an image sequence. You can download the Avid codecs directly from the Avid website.
