Hi, if I work with HDV 1280×720 material, in a dv sequence with pixel aspect ratio NTSC CCIR 601/DV – anamorphic 16:9, do i have a huge loss of quality? Even if i use Apple ProRess instead of dv/dvcpro for the compression?

    Thanx for the attention.

    Daniel

Well you are downscaling in FCP to standard def so yes you will lose quality.

Don’t ever let FCP scale down your footage. Just don’t.

Convert your HDV files in Compressor to SD ProRes.
Make sure you use Frame Controls. Resize filter to BEST.
This will work great in most cases.
