HDV in FCP to Sony Z1U HDV camcorder
I have a standard HDV timeline that I want to transfer to HDV mini-DV tape. I’ve checked my settings, but don’t seem to have the option to playback HDV 10801 in the VIEW pulldown menu under Video Playback. I can see the setting for HDV (1440X1080) 60i, but it is grey, not able to be chosen. Any ideas?

You can’t without third party hardware support. Native HDV will out output via FireWire until it conform for print to video or export.

I’ve tried print to video, but it will start the camera, but record nothing. The video playback won’t allow the HDV choice, its just grey.

As I said video playback is not available for HDV material.
As far as not recording goes, trash your preferences, connect the camera, make sure it’s turned on in VCR mode and set to HDV input. Launch the application. Does the application see the camera? In print to video make sure automatically record is check on.

Where is the preferences file, is it in FCP app file or elsewhere? Do I just take it and move it to Trash?
