I’ll be shooting a MCU of a speaker in front of a green screen. In order to get the best results when keying, should I shoot HDV or DVCam or will there be no difference between the two? Or should I shoot HDV and downconvert to DV from the deck? The camera I’ll be using is the Sony Z1U. The lighting will be pretty uniform on the green screen.
    Thanks!

I haven’t done this, but if it were me I would shoot a test. I suspect the key won’t be great in either case because of the chroma sampling.

There are good tools for chroma smoothing DV. I’m not sure if those tools would be appropriate for HDV.

So shoot a test and let us know how it turns out.

Yes, those tools do help for HDV also. There’s even an HDV 4:2:0 mode in them.

I’d shoot HDV for best chroma key, and if you do the key in HD and then downconvert afterwards, you’ll get the best key.
