Am I doing these steps correctly? —

(This is Sony HDV captured through Firewire in FCP 5.1.4)
I output a reference (not self contained) HDV movie for work in AfterEffects 7.

**When importing into AE 7 – the settings for HDV or Custom Setup 1440×1080 DO NOT make the comp wide enough for 1440×1080.
So, I have to set it for 1920×1080 and it fits fine.
On export – I set for Upper Field first // Output for HDV1080i60 // I’ve tried exporting both at 1920×1080 & tried stretching it back to 1440×1080. When I import that clip back into FCP 5.1.4 — both test seem to fit and look fine with no rendering as I would expect…

    BUT —
    1. When trying to watch it play – It KEEPS dropping frames when the with Safe RT (and I tried all the Video Playback settings from Dynamic to Low.)
    2. The footage is Darker!

    What the big Idea?

    Hi Jason,
When in AE, make sure that your footage (Interprete footage) and your “Composition setting” have the same size and the same pixel aspect ratio. Your clip should fit in the Composition.
    Cheers,
    Rafael
