  • HDV footage losing synch with audio…

Posted by Derek Lau on July 6, 2009 at 2:30 am

I’m getting a little frustrated…. I’m capturing HDV footage straight to a laptop on cs3. I also am recording to tape at the same time.

Some of my footage is A ok… but some of my clips have a “glitch” frame, then the audio goes out of synch. There is even one clip where the video is fine, but there is a piece of audio that gets repeated over and over again for the rest of the clip. It is doing this both on my laptop and desktop. My laptop is 2.2ghz dual core with 3gb ram and 512 dedicated video card. My desktop is a 2.4 quadcore with 8 gb ram and 1gig video card.

Has this happened to anyone else? I am clueless as to the issue,I have captured and edited HDV plenty of times before with no issues… I am considering downcoverting the footage from my camera and just editing in SD

any help would be greatly appreciated !!!!

    Thanks,

    Derek

I have the same problem when capturing HDV footage into PP3. The audio and video are not sync at some point. Also, the audio keeps repeating itself at some point. I was so frustrated and tried recap the footage, still the same problems. I also tried to UNLINK the video and audio, then move them so they can be in sync. However the part where the audio repeats itself, there is no way to fix it, I have to delete it. It takes me along time for that process to work. Then I find a way to overcome this problem, since I can’t find any other method ( I think , this is a software problem) . This is the way I fix it.
    1. I also have Pinnacle Studio 12 installed in the same PC. I use it to capture the footage into the hard drive. This is the m2v format, so it has separate A/V files (m2v and Wav)
    2. I import both m2v and wav into PP3, then select both tracks, rightclick them , the LINK them together. Now, I treat them as one
    3. The audio and video should be in sync, I have made several DVD using this method.
I hope this will help you
