  • HDV FILES OFFLINE – WONT LINK TO MEDIA

    Hi there

We are a busy post house that mainly uses AVID/Final Cut Pro –
we have recieved a project on an external hard drive that has been edited using Premiere Pro CS3 in HDV.

The HDV MPEG files are present on the drive, but when the project is opened all the video clip files in the timeline are displayed as offline. When I use the “Link Media” option Premiere refuses to see the HDV MPEG files and says that they are NOT a supported format.
I’m assumig that Premiere has probably transcoded the files into an intermediate format that it finds easier to work and edit with?? Is this the case? – and if so where are these files loctated and what format are they in? How do I link to them?

Is it possible to “conform” the timeline to it sees the native HDV files?
Is it possible to export an EDL and and inport this into a AVID symphony or Final Cut system and relink to the media?

Please help!! Many Thanks in advance!!

    Jonathan
