I have recently upgraded to Prem 2 at home and work. I edit 9 to 5 during the week and the computer plays back HDV footage no problem from the timeline. On the weekend I freelance at home and cut a lot of films. Recently a lot of directors have started shooting on the sony z1 and when I try to play the footage off the timeline it randomly stutters. At first I thought my computer wasn’t fast enough so I bought 2 gigs of RAM but this hasn’t made any difference whats so ever. My next idea is to upgrade my processor. The problem is I am unsure what is the best processor (what are the specs to look for) to get and will this solve the problem? I can afford to buy a new processor if it will solve the problem but if there is any other (cheaper) solution I would be very grateful to hear it.

    Cheers

You may want to consider using Cineform Aspect HD for your HDV footage. It really makes life a lot easier for Premiere Pro users.

You should specify what your computers specs are, like MoBo Brand/model to see if you could put a faster processor in it.

Cheers for your suggestions. I had a look at the cineform Aspect and it seems the best option for now. I know I should of given my computers specs but when it was built 2 years ago I had no idea about building computers (to be honest I’m still not great) so I asked someone else to spec it for me. Since then The guy has become unreachable. I was told the best way of finding out the specs is by using Sisoft Sandra???? Have yous ever used this?

    Thanks again for the advise
