hdv – dv tape duplication with stop start timecodes
hi
would appreciate some help
have 2 tapes shot on a sony hdv camera at 1080i 25fps
need to put both tapes back to dv pal tape via firewire with all stop start timecodes.
at the moment i only know how to put it back to dv pal tape as one long timecode without all stop start timecodes.in fcp 6

If you have a Sony VTR, you can put the deck into External Timecode. Then it will read and recreate the original TC.

is there anyway to do just the camera and fcp via firewire?

Not to do a tape to tape transfer with matched TC. You can certainly capture the footage into FCP with the original TC by using start / stop detection, but then you’d have to set up a timeline with the same TC as the original tape to make it match back to the original.
Deck to deck is the easiest way to do what you want to do.
