    Hi

I am using a BM Decklink Extreme in my Dual 2.5 G5 running OS 10.4.2 and FCP 5.02. I have digitized my material shot on the Sony Z1 and I get a single frame preview on my NTSC monitor, but no video playback. I have my downconvert option in the BM System Prefs set to Letterbox.

Looks like, according to the BM site, that HDV can be downconverted via hardware in real time. Is this a ‘not really’ kind of thing with the MPEG-2 setup of HDV? What do I need to do to get this to work better?

Anxiously waiting for the Multibridge Extreme. Hopefully this will be able to do HDV downconvert with full video playback.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Don,

this should work, make sure that you have selected the BM hdv Easy setup.
make sure you have all frames selected as well for your brodcast preview.

That was it – I didn’t spend enough time looking at that massive list of easy-setups. I also thought that those HD ones were for true HD monitoring, and you would use something like BM NTSC DV for the downconvert. All happy here! Thanks!
