I shot an event with my JVC HD100 in high definition and it was superb on an HD screen. I also used a second camera, an Ikegami DV7 shooting in DVcam, and it too was superb on an SD monitor. From what I had heard, when you downconvert from HDV to DV, the picture is supposed to be excellent DV. It looks worse that if it had been shot with an old PD150. The process I used was to digitize the HDV footage as HDV. I digitized the DVcam footage as DV. Working on a DV timeline, I inputted the HDV footage and used the motion effects control to scale down the HDV. Scaling down should have at least improved the quality but it didn’t. My final product is to be DV. What am I doing wrong?

Can you not use the JVC HD100 camera to downconvert, and capture as DV ? That might give you better results faster than trying to scale in PPro.
