HDV down conversion of mt2 file in windows XP?
Im trying to work out the best workflow for this. Im using Ppro2 and Decklink extreme. Basically i want the best quality for down conversion. What I did ws set up a 10bit HD 1080 project and then cut up the mt2 file on the timeline (very laborious as their was no realtime playback…in fact their was NO playback at all. Had to scrub the timeline) Should I have simply set it up as a HDV project and cut it that way? In hind sight Im guessing as it was cuts only their is nothign to be gained by doing this in a 10bit project. Oh well…
Anyway I then used the dynamic link feature and copied all the clips into an after effects HD composition – I then created another SD composition in after efects, dragged in my HD comp and simply scaled it down to fit. From this Im rendering out a 10bit 4.2.2 file with the SD black magic codec with trillions of colours selected and AE set to 16bit render mode.
Is using AE in this way a good option for down conversion or is their a better way to do this on windows?
