I am delighted to be in HDV mode in fcp 5 but I have been pulling what hair I have left out as every single time I shuttle through hdv clips the rainbow beachball of death starts up and what I have done is lost. I changed autosave to every 5 minutes… but no help there. Any conflicts I am not aware of… plugins, drive configurations?? G5, 2g, 4 gig ram, swiftdata drive array + 2 lacie big disks, decklink.

It’s working pretty good here with the limited HDV material I have. Might be an install problem of some kind. How did you get to the OS you are running now? Did you do a clean install and not any “upgrades” (updates OK, but upgrades are dicey). Also might be best to do a totally clean install of OS, and FCP 5…

Hey thanks guys…. my problem only seems to crop up when high speed shuttling through clips. They are all about 5 – 10 minutes in length. Digitized to internal sata via sonnet xsata 4×4. This has never given me any trouble with uncompressed but now with such a low data rate with HDV I just don’t understand.
