We have a Sony Z1U on loan for 2 days. If you shoot in the HDV 1080i mode what is the best way to capture into the Kona card. Someone recommneded using DVCPRO 50 codec. I tried it and the card would not recognize the footage. Again, we just got the card, so we are looking for the best ways to do things. Searched back posts but could not find anything. The final master will be Beta SP so we are doing a down-convert out of the camera. I want to shoot in 1080i because we may end using some of this footage for web applications which could be 16 x 9.

    Thanks in advance.

the best way is 10 bit uncompressed HD, if you have a Kona 2. If you have a Kona LH, you can go in HDV analog HD native, but with the Kona 2, you can use the AJA HD10A to convert the analog HD into HD-SDI. If you have small storage, you can use the DVCProHD codec, and when you have to dump out to Beta, simply use your KBox analog component output.
