Is there a way to get codecs for footage captured in FCP 5 for a PC? I used to play footage captured in FCP 4 on PC all the time but it won’t work with FCP5 footage. HDV is especially needed. I desperately need this footage to work and I can’t afford a deck rental to capture it in AVID xpress pro HD. Any information is appreciated, even “you just can’t do it.”

As a general rule, you shouldn’t capture footage on one edit system for editing on another. Stick to one edit system. And while this might have worked with DV in the past, HDV is another beast entirely. That might have to be captured ONLY by the system it is being used on, because of the way it needs to be decoded.
