Hi I am just an amateur, and do this only as a hobby, so bear with me. I am attempting to capture hdv from my sony hcr hd3 camera with the vegas 6d program, have read your previous forum coments on this and have selected the internal hdv capture, have had camera recognised but the captured video is very intermitant, ie goes from frame to frame, as if the harddrive is not fast enough to capture it. 1. could this be the problem, i have no problems with dv format. 2 I also read in one of your forums that the vegas 8 is the only vegas editing software that can deal with the hdv format. is this so. I am quite happy shooting in dv and getting some very adaquate results so is the hdv worth the trouble of pursuing. Any info would be helpful
    cheers

Vegas 6 can handle HDV. However, Vegas 8 will handle it better/faster. Support has improved over the versions.

As for capturing, speed-wise if you can capture DV you should also be able to capture HDV as the file sizes are about the same. Sounds like there may be some other issue going on.
