    If you set an HDV native sequence to render to ProRes, (type cmd+zero to open that sequence’s settings and choose the processing tab to change this) you’ll speed up render times by about 40%… and with no visible picture quality loss.

    What Jerry says is true, but if you have the drive speed and space you are better off capturing to ProRes.
