HDV Capture
When capturing with Cineform. Do you capture two files? An AVI and and the original HDV file from the camera?
If you do. How are these files (or clips)organized in your bins? -

My understanding is that Cineform can capture the raw m2t file and also convert to a Cineform AVI file at the same time. You would then need to add them to the timeline via the Explorer window in Vegas. Once added to the timeline, it will automatically be added to the Media Pool.
Alternately, you can manually add those clips to the media pool for adding to the timeline from there. However, it is a manual process.

Cineform give you the option of keeping the m2t file or discarding it once the “intermediate” avi is created.

If you want to render and output a HDV file, do you render the avi files in the timeline and will it automaticaly grab the m2t files for the render? What if you color corrected and added visual effects?
Will these be added to the m2t files when you render?
I’m just looking ahead for when the time comes to switch to HDV. -
Ther term Intermediate is misleading here. The Cineform files are top quality and are used for rendering for final output. As with any renders, any CC etc will be incorporated into the rendered files, whether these are to MPEG2 for DVD, m2t for PTT or any other format.
