  • HDV Batch Capture via firewire with timecode?

Does anyone know if it is possible to batch capture with timecode HDV from my FX1 via firewire through Vegas 9? This wasn’t possible with Vegas 8, and I don’t want to purchase the upgrade to 9 if I’m not positive it will work. I understand that Final Cut Pro can batch capture HDV via firewire no problem, and so I may just have to make the switch.

    Thanks for your help,

    Rick

No, batch capture is not possible with HDV and since Sony hasn’t fixed the bugs with scene detection, I doubt highly they are going to start adding new features to a dieing format. With hard drives being so cheap, just capture the whole tape and delete the scenes you don’t want. It is faster than going through the whole tape twice; once to mark the capture in/out points and second time to actually do the capture.

Haven’t you heard? Vegas Pro 10 is being released Oct 11th. I won’t upgrade to 9 now; I would wait and upgrade to 10.

That is not a trivial switch unless you already have a Mac are use to having a very limited software selection. 😉 Good luck.
