I just got my new computer up and running and tried for the first time to batch-capture a couple of HDV clips in FCP. I had heard that this would be a problem and it was. It didn’t work at all. Is it a lost cause or is there some trick or workaround? In any case, I’ve ordered a video card, as many people have suggested, but I’m also curious to see whether native HDV editing is practical.

I’ve been using SD to edit a couple of projects shot in HDV. Now I need to recapture them them via the card in DVC 100. What I’m hoping is to use the existing project files, recapture everything in DVC 100, and have it all appear in the correct places on the timelines. Is there a simple way to do this or is it just a fantasy?
