HDV Audio Sync Drift nightmare
40minute film
PAL 1080i50 HDV
render codec set to PRORES, seq codec set HDV
Footage ingested from FS4 and MRC1 units and all in synch on timeline, and has worked perfectly in other HDV projectsI’m editing a 40minute film with all footage fine on the timeline, but whenever I export (to a same as sequence reference or self contained .mov file) the audio drifts by about 5mins into the film!
I’ve cleared out all render files, re-rendered, and exported again and still audio drifts AHEAD of the video?!
Previously clearing and re-rendering the composit timeline has worked, but this project after the 3rd output it’s STILL out of sync.
Can anyone help with a solution?!

What drives are the clips on? Your Mac HD or an external?

The clips are on an external drive, and exporting back to the same external drive.

Drifting synch usually has to do with the following:
1. Slow drives like USB 2.0
2. FireWire or Secondary drives that are full to the brim
3. Render Files or Media Files that exist on the Mac HD
4. Separate System Sound wrongly imported/capturedCould this be you?

I only use FW800, and try not to have them full, although does happen so good advice 🙂
I cleared out every audio and video render file – using render manager – and then wiped all the attached drives render folders and did the render and self contained export all over again, and thankfully it worked this time!!
I guess I just need to have a full clearout before rendering out the final composite next time!
