HDV artifacts
Is there a way to minimize the motion artifacts in an otherwise great format? Is there any benefit to transcoding to DVCPRO HD or the Apple intermediate codec to lose those HDV jaggies? Does monitoring on an Apple display either hide or make these artifacts worse? So many questions, So few answers…

1) only way to avoid HDV artifacts is not to shoot HDV.
2) converting to another format can only make things worse, not better
3) A high quality LCD will make things appear as they really are. CRTs make things look better than they are, plasmas make them appear worse than they really areBest thing to do is avoid rendering back to HDV or back to HDV tape. Go out to a disc format for distribution direct, or master to a much higher quality tape format like HDCAM SR or D5.
