I am editing footage shot on a Z7U, most of it is HDV 60i, and hence that is my timeline setting.

When I drop my 24P clips in to the timeline (23.98 in the browser) – they appear to play back perfectly – in fact if I drag the 24P clip back top the browser from the 60i timeline it will now appear with a frame rate of 29.97.

My question is whether the workflow for combining these formats is that simple? Can I simply drop these clips on to my 60i timeline without any other tweaking?

    Jason,

the best thing to do is to set your timeline to the smaller fps rate. If you do it the other way around ( putting your 24p footage into a 60i timeline) your making FCP duplicate frames for you 24p footage.
In a 24p timeline, your 60i footage that has a lot more information, will loose the extra data that you actually don’t need.

Always scale your timeline by your smallest footage, never by your largest.

    hopes this helps.

Just a very big puzzle mister man.
