    Hi

I need a good workflow with FCP and Compressor to go from HDV 1080i50 to DVCAM NTSC.

I’ve tried to do the frame rate conversion and downscaling in Compressor, and output to a SD with DV/DVCPRO NTSC codec. When I open it in FCP to write to DVCAM it gets all jaggy. The same when I view my output file in QuickTime player. Strangely, the file looks good in VLC player – though VLC have a problem playing it back in realtime.

I’ve tried to output the SD file in number of different codecs. It looks great in AIC, Apple Pro Res but when I use these codecs I can’t get it to scale correctly inside FCP.

Can someone advice on a good workflow using FCP and Compressor?

    Best regards,

    Per

    Hi Per,
From HDVi50 to DV NTSC you need to change many things: Size, pixels, field order, time base…
I wouldn’t do all the process at once as you are trying.
First I would make an SD PAL movie and from there the NTSC movie.
