  • HDV 1080i50 no optimized media?

Posted by Jonas Bengtsson on October 20, 2011 at 7:14 am

Working with a Sony V1, sometimes still on tape -HDV 1080i50, no problems to import tape basen media.

When I check the Event folder “~/original media”, the original footage is there as it should.
But in the “transcoded/Hight Quality” folder its empty.

Shoulden’t it be optimized media witch is more editing freindly than HDV.

    Ps.
    Small question.
When I chose a clip in the Event browser, and check the info about it, it sais, “codec:Uncompressed, … HDV ” even if I have optimized or proxy media.
Just for confirmation, thats just the codec for the original media, in the timeline FCP X choses automaticly the transcoded media?

FCP edits HDV natively in QuickTime just as its predecessor. There is no need for media optimization. The default output will be ProRes, which is processed incidentally much, much faster than the similar conform/export process in 7.

    All the best,

    Tom
