HDV 1080 p25
Can anyone help?
I have been shooting 3 short films, 2 of which have now been edited.
I have been using a Sony HVR-V1E and a Canon HV40 both shooting progressive (p25).
I set my capture setting in FCP to HDV Firewire basic.
When bringing in the rushes for the 3rd film I noticed the capture setting “HDV 1080 p25”.
Aaaaaah!
Does this mean that the two films I have already edited weren’t correctly captured and the quality is compromised?
What should I do?
All three films need to be compatible with each other on a timeline eventually.

I don’t think you have a problem… was all shot at 1080? If so and you captured at 1080 I don’t see where you have a problem.

Yes 1080 but the footage was shot progressive and captured interlaced

I still don’t think it would look substantially different captured interlaced. i.e., I think the end result is the same. Are you seeing a problem on an external monitor when you play these interlaced sequences?

The Sony cameras capture a progressive signal in an interlaced frame. The technique is often referred to as psf. You use the normal 1080 50i Easy Setup.
If your final output is for broadcast then leave the settings as 50i. Your DVDs in PAL should be 50i as well.

So I guess I’m fine.
I tried last night bringing in footage at 1080p25 and the sequence started off as 1080p25 but when I added the footage it flipped back to being 1080 50i?
What you mention about the Sony cameras capturing a progressive signal in an interlaced frame, would that also be the same for the Canon HV40?
