Hello! Just a quick question about these two formats. I’m preparing still images in Photoshop to be used in both AECS4 and FCP.

My footage is DVCproHD 108024P native from an HVX-200, and I am combining this footage with stills that I create in Photoshop.

I was just wondering what is the difference between creating a Photoshop document in HDTV1080P/29.97 or using DVCproHD 1080P/29.97 and is there a benefit to using one or the other?

I’ve tried both and they both seem to work well for what I’m doing but I’m perplexed and would like to know what’s up with these two choices.

I’ve searched for information to clarify my format question but can’t seem to find a “simple” answer, (if there is one). Any clarification would be greatly appreciated! STU

the only difference is the horizontal frame size and the pixel aspect ratio that compensates for the difference in frame size.

i would work in the hdtv preset in photoshop. it is the square pixel preset and i find square pixels are the easiest to work in for ps work (not to mention the most common for image).

ae will handle the pixel aspect ratio discrepancy automatically if you are working in different preset in ae, so there is really nothing extra that you would need to do or worry about.

Thanks Kevin! That explains it well enough for me. Thanks for the quick response. I will standardize this into my workflow now. STU
