HDSLR converion without FCP
Im “new-ish” to this editing thing still and there doesn’t seem to be any guides out there explaining what the best format for CC in premiere/AE is when it comes to Canon HDSLR footage (In my case 7D).
They all show you how to do it with FCP. and the ones that show you how to do it in Premiere all use Compressor and ProRes.
In my head that is totally useless info. why would i use (and buy!) FCP just to use the compressor and then edit in Premiere!?
Then i read somwehere that i dont need compressor, just the ProRes components (ONLY BUNDLED WITH FCP!). Is it really possible that i cant get the most out of my 7D footage without this apple product?
I am using a Macbook pro to edit but the integration between the programs in CS5 Master Collection is far superior to what FCP has to offer. Besides, what does non mac users do? are they doomed to always work with the HDSLR native files just because they cant run FCP?What im looking for is info on what settings work the best when it converting the footage in something like “MPEG Streamclip” or perhaps some other software. (Doesnt have to be free.)
The Native fileformat runs soothly in Premiere CS5 but im told that it doesnt hold up very well when you try to Color Correct it.Thanks
