Re editing some old mini dv tapes using older hcr-hc9 cam.

Cannot remember if i used a 4 pin to 4 pin ilink cable or a 4 to 6 pin to connect to pc.
Book says 4 pin to 4 but only had 6 pin port on my pc at the time.

Pc rebuilt in meantime so will have to install pc firewire card.

Does anyone know if i will need to install one with a 4 pin port?

Know this is old stuff but hope someone recalls.

Here’s a card that comes with both 4 pin and 6 pin for firewire. I used 4 pin back in the day.

Ed, I’m almost positive (cannot not be 100% because of old brain cells!!) that I, like Paul, used 4 pin, although the cable had different ends. I guess the small end going into the camera would be refered to as mini. Anyway, the card Paul linked to seems would cover you either way. Ah, the good old days of mini tapes and firewire, things were so simple back then!

    Thanks you guys,

It does seem to me the cable i used has the coffin shaped 6 pin on one end for the pc and the small 4 pin ent for the hdr-hc9 cam.
The manual does say to use 4 pin to 4 pin though. Guess I will get combo pci card and a 4 to 4 pin cable.

Old brain cells, absolutely at work here. Bought vms plat 15 and prev used 9. Made many long, 3-4 hour BR movies with it though. Hope i can master it again.

You use the size that matches the port on your computer! If you have a 6 pin on the computer, use a 6 pin. If you have a 4 pin on the computer, use a 4 pin. Going from my deck to the computer is 6 pin to 6 pin so it’s really a matter of what matches.
