HDMI to SDI Conversion

As Wally found out on te Kona Forum, the Hi5 goes SDI to HDMI, not the other direction. However, it does have a very useful purpose for many here, as I pointed out to Walter on the Kona Forum.

The Hi5 allows those of us with Panasonic plasmas to use an inexpensive Panasonic HDMI board ($145 on ebay) for those monitors as an alternative to the very expensive Panasonic SDI board ($1600).

Yeah thats some good cash savings there.

The Panny Plasma SDI Blade is $ 1,500 and the HDMI one
is $ 500, I couldn’t see spending 1,000 more for something
I likely would not see any difference in.

The AJA Hi5 adapter is around $500.00 so you save $500.00 this way and you end up with a converter you can use for your video projector etc etc. I like that it also converts sd-sdi to the hdmi plug and seperates the audio(rca) for routing to your audio set up as well as sending audio to the hdmi plug (into the video monitor). I’m not sure if either of the Panasonic cards split the audio and loop it out for you.
